Pakistani Intruder killed; IB in Punjab on alert after “drone" threat
Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration attempt from the Pakistani side near Attari Railway Station along the International Border in Punjab.

In a major success, Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration attempt from the Pakistani side near Attari Railway Station along the International Border in Punjab. The intruder was shot dead at an area near the Railway track which is more than 300 metres inside the Indian territory. The incident took place in between the same tracks from where Samjhautha Express crosses over to Pakistan’s Wagah border; the train was suspended by both India and Pakistan after abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
BSF guns down intruder
Intruder was identified as Gul Faraz, a Pakistani resident. BSF has also recovered Pakistani currency notes, Pakistani cigarette packets, eatables, toothbrush, Pakistani identity card, One Pakistani operator sim and two memory cards from his possession. “We have recovered two memory cards from the intruder who was shot dead and have now forwarded the same to the concerned department for further investigation”, Railway Police Official told Republic Media Network. “At around 8:15 PM, it was observed that one person from Pakistan side suspiciously crossed the International Border and moved ahead taking advantage of night. Noticing the suspected movement, the sentry sounded an alert to all the nearby posts," a BSF official said.
On observing the suspicious movement close to forward BSF sentry post ahead of fence, the alert BSF sentry challenged the intruder. “Instead of surrendering, the intruder tried to rush towards one of the culverts under the fence. As the intruder didn’t respond to repeated warnings, the sentry got suspicious and took a shot at him dead," the official added. “At around 9 PM, We were informed and after that our team reached the spot near the Railway track. A case has been registered against the person for illegally entering India without documents. We have sent the body for further medicolegal proceeding,” an official of Railway Police told Republic.
Strict vigil along the IB
BSF sources told Republic that Pakistan Rangers have been conveyed the same and the body of the intruder will be handed over to Pakistan tomorrow. “After the repeated incidents of Pakistan trying to push in arms and ammunition through drones into Punjab, a strict vigil is being maintained round the clock along the International Border in Punjab and any mischievous attempt from the enemy side will be dealt in a proper manner,” they added.
