Highlighting the irony of Pakistan and China's 'concern' over Kashmir's democracy, actor Paresh Rawal on Friday tweeted their 'secular' and 'democratic demands'. The actor pointed out how the 'Islamic Republic of Pakistan' wanted secularism in India. On the other hand, 'Communist China' wanted democracy in Kashmir. He has termed it as the new comedy show.
Kashmir's current situation
Recent reports from Kashmir have said that there are difficulties faced by local Kashmiris with the continued communication blocking. But officials have stated on Sunday that communication curbs in Kashmir have been eased to some extent and landline telephone services restored in most places across the Valley in view of the improving situation. The process of fully restoring the landline connectivity, baring in a few pockets, is underway and more telephone lines would be restored soon, they added. However, the services continued to remain snapped in the commercial hub of Lal Chowk and Press Enclave.
The Home Ministry said on Sunday that not only 65% of the retail chemist shops were open but also medicines worth Rs 23.81Cr reached end-user retail shops in the last 20 days - slightly higher than the monthly average. However, Markets across Kashmir continued to remain shut for as shops and other business establishments were closed, officials said. Public transport too was off the roads, they added. The NSA chief and the Army chief has also visited the Valley to ascertain the security measures as fresh threats from Pakistan have emerged.
Rahul Gandhi fearmongers on Kashmir
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly fearmongered about the Kashmir situation. Recently, after being detained at Srinagar airport by authorities, disallowing his entry in the state, he said that the situation in J&K isn't normal. He also said that press personnel accompanying him were manhandled. His statements have been echoed by many Pakistan ministers including the Pakistan PM Imran Khan himself.
