Indians love France's football team, says PM Modi
PM Narendra Modi compared the craze of Indian football fans to that of France's in order to explain the strong bond between the two countries, as he addressed the audience at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France on Friday. PM Narendra Modi arrived in France on the first leg of his three-nation tour on Thursday. Upon arriving in France, PM Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron and held a bilateral meeting with him at the Château de Chantilly. "France and India are very closely related. When France won the World Cup, football fans in India were more excited and happy for France's victory. In fact, I think the number of football fans for France is more in India than in France itself", said PM Modi, as he was greeted with thunderous applause as soon as the comparison was made.
