Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded his visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, October 29, and is on his return journey to New Delhi. During his two-day visit to the gulf nation, PM Modi held extensive talks with the top Saudi leadership and addressed a key financial forum.

RuPay rolled out in Saudi, third Gulf nation after UAE and Bahrain

PM Modi after arriving in Riyadh on Monday night, held wide-ranging talks with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. India and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday inked over a dozen agreements in several key sectors including oil and gas, defence and civil aviation to bolster their ties as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held extensive talks with the Kingdom's top leadership during which a Strategic Partnership Council was established to coordinate on important issues. A memorandum of understanding was also signed to roll out RuPay card in the Kingdom, making Saudi Arabia the third country in the Persian Gulf after the UAE and Bahrain to introduce India's digital payment system. 

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar took to Twitter to apprise his departure from the Gulf nation.

Future Investment Initiative 2019

PM Modi while speaking at the Future Investment Initiative 2019 stated that India has become the world’s "third-largest startup ecosystem" and urged global investors to finance promising startups in India. While talking about technology and innovation, PM Modi said, “We are the eye-witnesses to the growth in technology and innovation in the world. Transformative technology like artificial intelligence, genetics, and nan-technology has superseded the research phase and become a part of our lives. The countries that have benefitted from the growth in technology are the ones who have accepted it and started working on it. We are also taking steps to expand technologically in India. This is done via, empowering the youth, organizing hackathons and developing labs for the school children to increase their thinking capacity. Today in India we are developing a comprehensive ecosystem by promoting research and development and tech enterprises. The results of these developments have also started to come in.”
