New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday enlisted the reason as to why the father of the Constitution and Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar had to quit the former PM Jawaharlal Nehru-led Congress cabinet.

PM Modi said, "The Congress did injustice to the country's Dalits and to the people from the backward communities That's the very reason why Babasaheb Ambedkar tendered his resignation and quit the Congress' anti-Dalit Nehruji cabinet.

Sharpening his attack further, PM Modi added, 'He (Ambedkar) was a whistleblower of Nehruji's injustice to Dalits and backward classes. While tendering his resignation, Ambedkar reasoned that the cabinet reflected the character of the Congress. He said he couldn't contain the anger inside him."

Lashing out further, PM Modi said, "Nehruji tried tooth and nail to end Ambedkar's political career. Babasaheb was tactfully defeated in the elections. Not just that, the Congress even celebrated his defeat."

PM Modi said the people have given the NDA government a mandate for stability and continuity for the third consecutive term after seeing its work of 10 years and accused the Congress of trying to build a narrative that it has defeated the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha polls. Replying to a two-day debate on the President's address to both houses of Parliament, he also accused the Congress of working towards creating economic anarchy in the country.

Modi singled out the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying the House witnessed the wailing of a person with "balak buddhi (childish behaviour)" who tried to gain sympathy without disclosing the wrongs he had committed.

"This is the first time that the Congress has not crossed 100 seats for three consecutive times. Instead of conceding defeat, they are being arrogant. They are trying to build a narrative that they have beaten us," Modi said in the Lok Sabha amid vociferous protests by the opposition.

The prime minister said a new drama was played in the Lok Sabha to garner sympathy. "They know the truth that they are out on bail for embezzlement of thousands of crores of rupees, have been convicted for calling OBC people thieves and they had to apologise for irresponsible comments on the country's top court," the prime minister said in a apparent reference to Gandhi.
