PM Modi tweets in three languages after his tour with Xi Jinping
PM Modi shared pictures of his Mamallapuram tour with Xi Jinping on Twitter. PM Modi tweeted in three different languages which are English, Tamil and Mandarin
Prime Minister Narendra Modi did a tour of the historic city of Mamallapuram with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is in India for the second informal summit. Both the leaders visited the 'Arjuna's Penance' in Mahabalipuram. They also visited the Panch Rathas, Krishna's Butter Ball and the Shore Temple. Narendra Modi has shared the pictures of his tour on Twitter but what stands out that has tweeted about it in three languages which are English, Tamil and Mandarin. 'Marvellous Pancha Rathas'
PM Modi shared pictures of 'Pancha Rathas' and wrote, "President Xi Jinping and I saw the marvellous Pancha Rathas. The five Rathas are examples of monolith rock-cut architecture. The Rathas in this monument include the Dharmaraja Ratha, Bhima Ratha, Arjuna Ratha, Nakula Sahadeva Ratha and Draupadi Ratha," in Mandarin.
'Arjuna's Penance - one of the grandest places'
Here is the picture of PM Modi with Xi Jinping visiting Arjuna's Penance which he posted with a Tamil caption. It translates to, "Arjuna's Penance is one of the grandest places to see in Mamallapuram. It brings to life aspects of the Mahabharata. Arjuna's Penance also showcases the best of Pallava Art, especially the depiction of nature and animals."
The significance of Mahabalipuram
The Mahabalipuram town deeply connects the Indian and Chinese cultures. The town had deep cultural links with China's Fujian province. China has had trade relations with Kanchi in second century BCE. The ports of Tamil Nadu were entry points for ships coming from China. Moreover, the evidence of different varieties of Chinese porcelain from the coastal sites of Tamil Nadu has proved the well-established trade contacts between India and China.
PM Modi hosted a dinner for Xi Jinping
After an eventful day, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping finally concluded the day with a three-hour-long private dinner hosted by PM Modi in Chennai. The dinner which was scheduled to be approximately around 45 minutes to one hour, lasted for long three hours which speaks volumes about the rapport shared between the two global leaders. Raveesh Kumar, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, also tweeted about the three-hour-long dinner and said that the leaders exchanged views on deepening ties between New Delhi and Beijing.
