PM Modi: 'Will showcase rich thoughts of Gandhi Ji', at the UN
PM Modi will host a programme at the UN to mark the special occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which will be graced by the world leaders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the United States of America from September 21-27, 2019. In this regard, he released a statement prior to his departure for the USA, outlining the details of the trip. PM Modi has planned to visit New York and Houston during the course of his trip. He is scheduled to participate in various major events in the United Nations. Moreover, at the UN, India is all set to host an event to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Commemorate Mahatma Gandhi
According to Prime Minister's statement, "India will also host at the UN an event to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which will underline the continuing relevance of Gandhian thoughts and values in today’s world. Several Heads of State and Government along with UN Secretary General will grace the occasion to pay our collective tribute to Gandhiji and underscore the significance of his message."

Three big launches
In addition to this, PM will also honour Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary with three big launches. One of them is Gandhi Solar Park in which solar panels will be installed on the rooftop of the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Thereafter, a Gandhi Peace Garden will be inaugurated at the State University of the New York Campus. Around 150 trees will be planted at the event in the honour of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that in the third launch, there will be the release of the United Nations postage stamp on Mahatma Gandhi.
