PMC Bank Scam: Fadnavis assures personal follow-up, to seek PM's help

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis spoke about the PMC bank scam at the launch of the party's manifesto in Mumbai ahead of the assembly elections in the state. He termed the crisis as a very important issue and said the government does not want to run away from the responsibilities. He said the EOW (Economic Offences Wing) is working on it and the authorities are attaching the properties of the accused. The CM stated after the election, this issue will be taken to the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister. Fadnavis also said the Prime Minister will be requested to help in the refund of depositors money and he will personally follow up on the issue. 

Man suffers cardiac arrest 

After hearing the news about the PMC scam, 51-year-old Sanjay Gulati, reportedly a customer suffered a cardiac arrest and unfortunately, he passed away on Monday, October 14, as per reports. It was reported that Sanjay Gulati suffered a cardiac arrest after he lost his life savings to the scam. Notably, earlier Sanjay had lost his job at Jet Airways. Sanjay attended a protest morcha against the PMC bank on Monday. After coming home he suffered massive heart failure due to stress while eating, as per reports. Sanjay was under a lot of stress as he had first lost his job with Jet Airways and then his life savings were reportedly stuck in the PMC Bank.

Withdrawal up to 40,000 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday, increased the withdrawal limit for the bank customers to Rs 40,000 which is inclusive of the Rs 25,000 allowed earlier. In an official statement issued, the RBI said after reviewing the bank's liquidity position, it had decided to enhance the withdrawal limit. Amidst protests earlier, on October 3, the RBI had allowed the depositors to withdraw up to Rs 25,000.
