As a part of its ‘#BharatKiLaxmi’ initiative, MyGov - the citizenship engagement platform of the Central government - has started a contest inviting women citizens to submit their entries to bring into the spotlight the cases of numerous women who have brought glory to the country. According to reports, the campaign is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his weekly radio broadcast show 'Mann Ki Baat', PM Modi had stated that "daughters are considered as Laxmi in Indian culture since they are a harbinger of fortune and prosperity."

According to MyGov, "We should recognize several daughters, honour them and feel proud of them." The contest helps recognize several women in the society. According to the MyGov website, participants can share their entries in the form of writing or in the form of a photograph or video, using the hashtag '#BharatKiLaxmi'. The last date for participating in the initiative is set to be October 27.
