In a major development, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain famed television actress Shilpa Shinde is likely to join the Congress party.

In a major development ahead of the Lok Sabha 2019 polls, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain famed television actress Shilpa Shinde joined the Congress party on Tuesday in the presence of president of Mumbai Congress Committee Sanjay Nirupam, and party leader Charan Singh Sapra in Mumbai.
Shilpa Shinde had debuted on the Indian television in the year 1999 with the lead role of Angoori Bhabhi in the famous daily soap 'Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain'. However, she left the show in 2016. Her exit from the show was quite controversial, wherein she cited health concerns for her exit. However, this incident got her into trouble for a breach of the show's contract leading to a bitter fight between her and the producer of the show.
In October 2017, she took part in popular television reality show Big Boss 11 and came out as the winner of the show. She won the reality show in 2018 and was one of the four finalists long with Hina Khan, Vikas Gupta, and Puneesh Sharma. Shilpa Shinde later went onto worked in comedian Sunil Grover’s cricket-based web series Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan.
In Lok Sabha election in 2014, the Congress had won only 2 out of 48 constituencies in Maharashtra. The party may contest the upcoming general election in alliance with Sharad Pawar's NCP.
"Of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, both NCP and Congress may possibly contest on 20 seats each. The remaining eight seats will be allotted to others allies," NCP leader Praful Patel recently told PTI.
