Centre convenes all-party meeting in Parliament with senior leaders in attendance ahead of first session of 17th Lok Sabha
A day before the first Parliament session of the 17th Lok Sabha is set to commence, an all-party meeting has begun at the Parliament on Sunday, as per sources. Sources further report that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi and leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha Thawar Chand Gehlot were the first to arrive at the meeting

A day before the first Parliament session of the 17th Lok Sabha is set to commence, an all-party meeting has begun at the Parliament on Sunday, as per sources.
Sources further report that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi and leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha Thawar Chand Gehlot were the first to arrive at the meeting which commenced on Sunday morning.
The other leaders who reportedly are in attendance at the meeting were YSCRP leader V Vijayasai Reddy, TMC leader Derek O'Brien, NC Chief Farooq Abdullah, NCP leader Supriya Sule, Apna Dal (Sonelal) Chief Anupriya Patel, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, and TDP leader Jayadev Galla.
After the all-party meet, all NDA leaders will reportedly meet in the Parliament later in the evening to discuss strategies for the upcoming session. BJP parliamentary party executive committee meeting is reportedly scheduled to be held on Sunday evening.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BJP has constituted its Parliamentary Party Executive Committee with PM Narendra Modi as the leader of the party, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as Deputy leader of the party (Lok Sabha), Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot as leader of party (Rajya Sabha) and Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal as Deputy leader of party (Rajya Sabha). On Tuesday, BJP MP Dr.Virendra Kumar was announced to be the next Protem Speaker of the newly elected 17th Lok Sabha.
On the first two days of the new Parliament session which will commence on Monday, new MPs will take oath while the election for the Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha is scheduled to be held on June 19. The race for the Speaker post is between senior BJP parliamentarians, including former Union ministers Maneka Gandhi, Radha Mohan Singh and Virender Kumar. Former Union ministers Jual Oram and S S Ahluwalia were also among the possible candidates.
The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha will be convened from June 17 to July 26 during which the Union Budget will be presented by the new government on July 5.
