Dear Mr. Prime Minister Modi @narendramodi @PMOIndia,
Pleasantly surprised to receive your greetings on my birthday (sent to my village address and forwarded to me) pic.twitter.com/kN381qpFyV
The Prime Minister's greeting said, "On your birthday, I am delighted to convey my heartfelt wishes to you. May God bless you with good health and happiness and may you continue serving the people always." In response to the birthday greeting, Chidambaram said he wants to continue serving people but the investigating agencies are preventing him from doing so, but that he will be back after the harassment ends.
As you have wished, I want to continue to serve the people. Unfortunately, your investigating agencies have prevented me from doing so.

Once the present harassment ends, I shall be back among the people that both you and I are committed to serve.

Chidambaram and INX Media Case
Chidambaram whose birthday falls on September 16, is currently held under judicial custody in Tihar Jail after a Delhi Court dismissed his plea seeking to surrender to the ED in an alleged money laundering case involving INX Media. The CBI had registered an FIR against Chidambaram on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance granted to the INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during Chidambaram's tenure as the Finance Minister. Thereafter, the Enforcement Directorate had lodged a money laundering case in this regard in 2017. Chidambaram was first arrested by the CBI in connection with the INX Media case on August 22 from his New Delhi residence. The CBI and EC are still probing Chidambaram in the case.
