Days ahead of poll-result of Maharashtra and Haryana elections, Congress party has on Tuesday announced that it will hold a protest against the Central government over the economic situation in the country in the first week of November. Even as Congress claims that the economy of the country is in doldrums, it has scheduled its protest against the Centre only in the month of November. However, the party has announced it on October 22 that it will protest against the Centre. This move by the grand-old-party comes after exit polls of the assembly elections of Haryana and Maharashtra predicted another setback for it.

Congress suffers in Haryana
The Congress party has been facing infighting. Earlier, in a huge setback to the Congress party ahead of assembly polls in Haryana, its former state chief Ashok Tanwar resigned. Even as the party named him as a star campaigner for the upcoming assembly polls, he resigned. His decision came amid reports of tussle in the Haryana Congress between Tanwar and Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Days ahead of his move, he was removed from the post of Haryana Congress chief, and Kumari Selja was named as the party's state president.
Making a scathing attack on the party, Tanwar, in his resignation letter titled 'Resignation from party's primary membership, said that the Congress party is going through an 'existential crisis'. He added that it is because of the 'internal contradictions' in the party. He said that Congress has now become ''anti-thesis of democracy and plagued by feudal attitudes." He went on to add that as per his experience in the past few years the internal democracy in the party is 'killed by few lobbies'.
Congress suffers in Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, a long-drawn tussle has been going on between Nirupam and another Congress leader Milind Deora. Deora and Nirupam had been in loggerheads after the former resigned from Congress' Mumbai chief's position. The latter claimed that it was done for personal ambitions. Deora, on the other hand, has praised the Centre on a lot of issues including Prime Minister's massive Howdy Modi event.
