Shortly after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched a campaign to make Delhi roads pothole-free, BJP MP Gautam Gambhir, on Saturday, poked a jibe at the AAP convenor with a new version of Geeta Dutt's 1954 famous Bollywood song "Babuji Dheere Chalna". Taking to Twitter, the East Delhi MP, posted an improvised version of the Bollywood song with "potholes" reference in it. Highlighting that the Delhi roads are not well-maintained by the PWD under the AAP government, he sarcastically asked the citizens to walk "slowly".
"Please go slow. There are many potholes on the way. We know the realities of Delhi. But to keep yourself happy Arvind Kejriwal, it's a good thought," Gautam Gambhir tweeted in Hindi.

AAP's initiative
On Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to inform the citizens about the initiative taken by the Public Works Department (PWD) under the AAP government to make the roads of Delhi potholes-free. In the tweet, he stated that the campaign has been launched to curb the inconvenience faced by the public on the roads due to potholes caused by rain, adding that the roads will be inspected on a large scale. He further stated that fifty AAP MLAs will inspect 20-25 km of roads maintained by the PWD.

Delhi assembly elections
The move by the AAP government has come weeks ahead of the assembly polls in the national capital scheduled to take place next year. In the buildup to the elections, Arvind Kejriwal has made a series of announcement ranging from Dengue-free Delhi to free metro rides for women passengers. Recently, Kejriwal stated that it will sell onion, whose prices are soaring high, will be sold at a lesser price than the market price by the AAP government. However, BJP has been countering the freebies by the ruling AAP government as "poll gimmick". In 2015 assembly elections, AAP-led by Arvind Kejriwal formed the government after winning 67 of the 70 seats.
