Former Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Karnataka, HD Deve Gowda talking about the current political situation in Maharashtra subtly implied that if Congress forms a government with Shiv Sena, they should not disturb it for the next five years. This comes as the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is broken after the MLA from Kothrud, Chandrakant Patil made a comment on Sunday saying that BJP will not be forming the government in Maharashtra. He asked Shiv Sena to stake a claim and subsequently, the governor invited Shiv Sena to do the same. The chief of Janata Dal (Secular) Chief from Karnataka, also asserted that people will only “trust” Congress if they don’t try to disturb the stability of the government in the state.

Nataka in Karnataka

The JD(S) party in Karnataka, formed a coalition government with Congress in 2018. Deve Gowda’s son, HD Kumaraswamy was the Chief Minister of the state during this period. This government fell in a year as the MLAs resigned from the party and now the state has a BJP led government under the leadership of BS Yediyurappa. All the drama that transpired in the state started after the aggrieved rebel MLAs started resigning, HD Deve Gowda hinting to this indirectly targeted Congress and said that they should not “disturb” the govt in Maharashtra.

Current Situation in Maharashtra

As the Shiv Sena has to declare its sand by Monday 7:30 pm, they have been holding meetings with both NCP and Congress. Consequently, all the parties, if they wish to form the government, must strike a deal between themselves on the appointment of CM, Deputy CM, and other ministerial posts. Shiv Sena MP and cabinet minister, Arvind Sawant has already resigned from the Centre, breaking ties with NDA. At the same time a few of Maharashtra's Congress MLAs, who were in a hotel at Jaipur, have left for Mumbai. All these developments show that a government will soon be formed in Maharashtra. However, it is necessary for all the three parties, Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress to lend support to each other for crossing the magic number of 145 seats.
