Chouhan, whose women's welfare schemes titled many votes to the BJP, expressed confidence in his successor and asked Yadav to create new records in the field of public welfare under the āguidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.ā

Yadav, who held the cabinet berth in the previous Madhya Pradesh government led by Chouhan, was picked as the new Chief Minister at the BJP's legislative meeting in Bhopal on Monday.
The Ujjain South MLA, on being picked for the top post, said, āI am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership and the central leadership. With your love and support, I will try to fulfil my responsibilities.ā
The BJP legislative meeting also picked two deputies for Yadav- Jagdisgh Devda and Rajesh Shukla.
In the 2023 state elections, the BJP achieved an emphatic victory bagging 163 seats while the Congress finished second in the race with 66 seats. The party's 'Ladli Behna' scheme was regarded as a masterstroke that significantly influenced voters in favour of the BJP.
