'I will fulfill your aspirations...,' Jagan Mohan Reddy assumes charge of his office after YSRCP's landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh. Here's his message

Few days after the YSRCP registered a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh both in Lok Sabha and assembly polls, its chief Jagan Mohan Reddy assumes office on Saturday, June 8 in the Secretariat. He stepped into his new office at the auspicious time of 8:39 am.

While assuming office he also paid his tribute to his father. The official handle of the YSRCongress party wrote: "CM YS Jagan who paid tribute to the late CM YSR before taking responsibility in the Secretariat"

Jagan Mohan Reddy took the oath for the Chief Minister of the state on May 30, at 12:23 PM in Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada. Stepping into his father shoes, late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh who died in a helicopter crash in 2009, a teary-eyed Jagan said: "I saw a lot of hardship when I walked over 3,000km (during the padayatra across Andhra) and I have seen your hardships. After listening to you as chief minister, I am telling you one thing: I am here for you," Reddy told a rousing crowd after the ceremony.

The YSR Congress bagged 151 of the 175 seats in the state Assembly, decimating the TDP headed by N Chandrababu Naidu, who became the first chief minister of the state after it was bifurcated to carve out Telangana five years ago. YSRC also won 22 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.

Right after coming to power, Jagan increased the salary of ASHA workers from 3000 RS to 6000 and has ordered a crackdown on illegal liquor shops. On Thursday, in what could be an unprecedented move, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan decided to have five deputy chief ministers under him in a full 25-member Cabinet. The new Council of Ministers will be constituted at a public function in Amaravati on Saturday. The Chief Minister held a meeting of the YSR Congress Legislature Party at his residence Amaravati in the morning where he announced the decision to appoint five deputy chief ministers. Accordingly, one each from SC, ST, BC, minority and Kapu communities would be made deputy CMs.
