Kamal Nath on Scindia's remarks: 'Public trusts their leader'

Reacting to former Member of Parliament (MP) Jyotiraditya Scindia’s criticism of his government’s farmer loan waiver scheme, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, on Saturday, stated that the people trusted "their leader" to keep his promise. Conceding that only Rs 50,000 had been waived off in the first instalment, he committed to waiving off the remaining amount in the due course of time. Recently, he castigated the state government for not implementing the loan waiver scheme in a proper manner. He also lamented the lack of healthcare facilities in each district. Similarly, senior leader Digvijaya Singh's brother Laxman Singh asked former Congress president Rahul Gandhi to apologise for not keeping the loan waiver promise. At a gathering in Bhind, Scindia said, "The second thing is that the loan waiver has not been provided. Only 50,000 of the 2 lakh rupees promised as a loan waiver have been provided. The loan waiver should be given to the farmers. We had promised it." Some of the Congress Members of Legislative Assembly had revealed in private conversations about how the farmers had been duped, just for getting votes.
