After Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh's praise for PM Narendra Modi and several other party members following his lead, it appears that Kapil Sibal is not joining this chorus. Ramesh and other Congress including spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi and MP Shashi Tharoor have lauded the welfare work done by PM Modi. Ramesh had said that the party should acknowledge the things done correctly by PM Modi, especially the Ujjwala scheme. Singhvi too echoed the sentiment saying that the Prime Minister should not be demonised at all times, which could hurt the Congress' electoral prospects even more.

Kapil Sibal goes against the tide, criticises BJP

On Saturday, Congress leader and legal eagle Kapil Sibal, who has been representing P Chidambaram in his petitions against CBI and Enforcement Directorate went against this tide and questioned whether the BJP has the same attitude of advising the Prime Minister to avoid 'demonising' his political rivals. Sibal is differing from Singhvi's stance who is also representing Chidambaram in his recent troubles with the law. Sibal asked in a tweet that whether any BJP leader advised PM Narendra Modi to stop demonising his rivals.

Jairam Ramesh, Abhishek Singhvi, Tharoor praise Modi

The issue began after Jairam Ramesh heaped praises on PM Narendra Modi during an address on Thursday. "In 2019, all of us in the political discourse made fun of one or two of his programmes, but it has turned out in all electoral studies that the PMUJ is one single program which has been able to connect him with crores and crores of women and given him the political traction which he didn't have in 2014," he said while stating that unless Congress acknowledges his work it won't be able to effectively criticise him. Singhvi on Thursday tweeted saying that the Congress should not 'demonise' PM Narendra Modi at all times as it would hurt the party. Later, Tharoor quipped saying he had taken this position long before but was censured for it.
