Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday confirmned that the Shiv Sena alliance with BJP is to continue for the upcoming Maharashtra elections. In lieu of the Maharashtra assembly elections, reports of conflict brimming between both the ruling parties on the issue of seat-sharing had surfaced. Thackeray, however, refuted the rumours stating that the members from both the parties are holding meetings to devise the seat-sharing formula. The schedule of the Maharashtra elections is yet to be announced by the Election Commission.
Nothing wrong between Shiv Sena-BJP
The Shiv Sena has agreed to contest the Maharashtra elections with 135 seats of the total 288 seats in the Maharashtra elections. However, they wanted the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to accommodate the smaller allies in BJP's seat quota, although, a format to devise the seat-sharing formula is yet to be finalised. In an event organised at the Ram Ganesh Gadkari auditorium, Uddhav Thackeray introduced a number of civic projects aimed for Thane. The event was attended by the party leaders, elected representatives, and the officials of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) which is ruled by the Shiv Sena itself. Thackeray elucidating on the current scenario, refuted the rumours stating that the alliance is to continue invariably.
'The BJP and the Sena are in alliance right now and the same will continue.' Thackeray said in a statement.
The Shiv Sena Chief last week announced in the presence of PM Modi that the alliance between the Sena and the BJP is 'inevitable'. He further asserted that he believes in the association of both the parties. Thackeray said that he has faith in the Sena-BJP coming to power once again. Shiv Sena claims that the BJP is in agreement with Sena's demand for 144 seats and the CM post for a period of 2.5 years in the five-year term of the government.
Devendra Fadnavis as the next CM
Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, while addressing a crowd in Solapur on September 1, announced that incumbent Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will continue to be the next Maharashtra CM candidate refuting all rumours. Shah stated that Fadnavis requires another term to take the development further. He spoke about the Fadnavis-Modi combination in Delhi and Maharashtra. Furthermore, adding that in 2014, it was the same pair that took the state on the path of development.
