Even before PM Narendra Modi landed in Madurai in Tamil Nadu for the foundation stone-laying event of AIIMS, strong opposition to his visit has been started by MK Stalin's DMK and Vaiko's MDMK in the state.
While the DMK has been opposing on social media, MDMK has taken to the streets to protest the PM's visit.
MDMK's protest in Madurai:
This has led to a Twitter-war between the DMK and BJP with both #GoBackModi and #TNWelcomesModi becoming top trends on Twitter since early morning on Sunday.
The parties opposing PM Modi's visit to the state claim that the Centre during its term has not worked for Tamil Nadu and did not support it during the Gaja cyclone, the Sterlite protests, and the Kaveri issue.
DMK MLA A Saravanan has denied that the party's social media war did not amount to any trolling against the Prime Minister.
"The Prime Minister never bothered about the state. He never offered any solace when Tamil Nadu was in distress. Ahead of elections, he is doing gimmicks that he will open AIIMS. The AIIMS project was stuck for four years. They should have started the AIIMS when they began their term. That's why we are opposing the visit. The people of Tamil Nadu will not be fooled. This is not done by the party but people also supporting. We had shown black flags even when former PM Nehru had come to the state. If leaders come with majoritarian politics then we oppose it. This is not trolling. Trolling is not what BJP does."
As per Republic TV and C-Voter's National Approval Ratings', Congress-DMK alliance is predicted clean sweep in the state, while NDA and AIADMK are projected for a massive loss. All 39 seats are projected to go into the bag of UPA (30 for DMK and 9 for Congress), in a scenario which happened in the last edition of the National Approval Ratings.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Thoppur near Madurai at a cost of Rs 1,264 crore, the first such facility in Tamil Nadu.
