TMC MLA files complaint against BJP’s Malviya over ‘Mamata shielding criminals’ remarks

TMC MLA Chandrima Bhattacharya on Sunday has filed a complaint against BJP's National Information and Technology Department in charge Amit Malviya for his tweet on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee and party leader Shahjahan Sheikh. The complaint was registered at Nimat police station.

Terming Malviya’s statement to be criminal in nature for alleging that Mamata Banerjee has a record of shielding criminals, Bhattacharya, in her complaint, demanded action against the BJP leader. The TMC MLA said that Amit Malviya has no business to defame and indignify West Bengal’s CM.

TMC Minister demands immediate action against BJP leader

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Malviya took to social media platform X, sharing a photo of CM Mamata Banerjee and jailed TMC leader Anubroto Mondal together in a car. He further alleged that the TMC supremo has a track record of shielding criminals.

Malviya posted, “ED has issued a look out for Sheikh Shahjahan, the dreaded criminal and one of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek’s trusted henchman. He is wanted for, among other crimes, in the massive Ration Scam (in which food supplies meant for the poorest of the poor in Bengal were sold in the open market for over a decade).”

“West Bengal Governor has ordered West Bengal DGP to immediately arrest Sheikh Shahjahan and investigate his links with terror organisations. But Shahjahan, who claimed to be a don of Sandeshkhali, is absconding. This wouldn’t have been possible without the patronage of Mamata Banerjee, who is also the Home Minister of West Bengal,” the BJP leader said.

He further added, “She has a track record of shielding criminals. Soon after the Bogtui massacre, Mamata Banerjee drove around with accused Anubroto Mondal in her official car. There is no doubt that Sheikh Shahjahan, wherever he is, is under her protection. But just like she couldn’t save Anubroto, she won’t be able to save Shahjahan too. Her blood soaked empire, built on crime, is crumbling.”

He even demanded that CM Mamata Banerjee should instruct West Bengal police to arrest and hand Shahjahan Sheikh to the central agencies.
