UP CM Yogi Adityanath meets Mulayam Singh Yadav after the latter was admitted to hospital over high blood pressure on Sunday

Amidst health concern reports over former SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has visited the veteran politician at his Lucknow residence. The 79-year old former SP supremo was admitted to the hospital on Sunday due to high blood sugar levels. Mulayam Singh Yadav's brother -Shivpal and son Akhilesh were also present during Adityanath's visit.

Earlier on Sunday, Yadav was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday due to high levels of blood sugar. The SP leader was treated by doctor Bhuvan Chandra Tiwari. His medical reports have come out to be normal, according to doctors. Yadav's brother Shivpal Singh Yadav, along with former minister Ahmad Hasan, visited him in the hospital.

The Samajwadi party founder has currently launched fresh efforts to end acrimony between his son Akhilesh Yadav - who currently heads the Samajwadi Party and brother Shivpal Singh Yadav - who heads Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party, according to party sources.

Over the past few days, Mulayam Singh Yadav has separately met Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Singh Yadav, and the entire clan to settle the differences, according to PTI. The meetings have taken place in Delhi and Saifai in Uttar Pradesh.

Mulayam Singh Yadav's initial efforts have not yielded big results as Shivpal Singh Yadav has refused to merge his Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party with the SP which he had left in August last year. Yadav has blamed cousin and SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav for the split in the clan.

The whole effort by the SP founder is to make up for the terrible performance of the party in the Lok Sabha election which they had fought in coalition with BSP and managed to win only 5 seats and its ally BSP 10 seats against the BJP's 62 seats. 

There have been reports that Shivpal Singh Yadav's party was blamed by SP and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for splitting Yadav votes. Also, the gathbandhan equation has failed after Mayawati pulled out of the coalition and announce her decision to contest for state Assembly bypolls on her own.
