Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will unveil a 7-foot tall statue of Lord Rama at the Shodh Sansthan museum in Ayodhya on Friday, June 7.
The statue fashioned out of a single rosewood block statue is from Karnataka. Adityanath is also scheduled to inaugurate the event to celebrate Mahant Nritya Gopal Das birth anniversary. The chief minister's visit to Ayodhya was announced a day after the Shiv Sena's media cell stated on Wednesday that the party chief, Uddhav Thackeray will visit Ayodha later this month along with all his MLAs.
Mounting pressure on the government, Shiv Sena leader and Saamna editor, Sanjay Raut has said that as promised to visit Ram Lalla after winning the election, Shiv Sena was keeping up its commitment as it cannot forget Ram Lalla after asking votes based on that issue, speaking to ANI.
"If we visit there (Ayodhya), then the construction work of the temple will begin quicker. 2014 we had promised building the temple. We won a majority and yet could not build the temple. Again in 2019, we have asked votes based on the Ram Temple issue. Before the elections along with Uddhav Thackrey we had visited Ayodhya, conducted a lot of programs and said that post the election victory we will come to get darshan of Ram Lalla. After winning the election, we cannot forget Ram Lalla and Ayodhya. It is our commitment," he said.
Thackeray visited Ayodhya in November last year and asked the central government to announce a date for the construction of Ram temple. He had assured full support if an ordinance was brought for the purpose.
Dr Subramanian Swamy who has been among the vocal leaders demanding Centre's intervention in the Ayodhya issue spoke to Republic Media Network and said that the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and VHP should be both jointly asked to start the construction if the Temple now, the Prime Minister has no legal reason to delay any further," he said.
Meanwhile, Hindu Mahasabha has also said that the BJP needed the mandate to build the temple and now that they have received it, mandir should be built.
