UP Govt to launch new 'UP Angel Network' to in a bid to lure startups

Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to launch an incubator programme to boost startups in the state. The programme will be called ‘UP Angel Network' and will be unveiled at the UPStartup Conclave by the Department of IT and Electronics on September 14. The programme is a step in the direction to achieve the target of making UP a $1 trillion economy by 2024. The programme is likely to be inaugurated by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
UP's appeal to startups
The UPStartup Conclave is an exclusive startup event going to be held in Lucknow. The event is being organized by the Department of IT & Electronics of the UP government, in association with Lucknow Management Association and Indian Institue of Management (IIM) Lucknow. The main purpose of the event is to work towards making the state one of the most attractive options in terms of investment and to promote entrepreneurs with ease of doing business. Certain sectors have been given preference, such as Agro & Food Processing, Health, Education, Fintech, Advanced Technology, E-Commerce, etc. This is the second year of the conclave, with the first one being held in 2018. The government has made a few changes, such as children will be prepared for startup culture right from the school-age and entrepreneurial cells will be created in the universities.startups of every sector will be focused and encouraged. This new Startup Policy will be sent to the cabinet by the end of this month. There will be multiple exemptions and incentives for the appraiser startups can witness. DGM Praveen Kumar of IT and Electronic Department said, "Our aim is young ones with new innovative ideas come into mainstream and scale-up their startup, to develop the right ecosystem for startups in Uttar Pradesh".
Efforts taken by the government
The CM has been taking multiple steps to ensure that his government is able to take the right decisions. The Chief Minister, with a few of his ministerial colleagues, went to the IIM in Lucknow for lessons in governance and leadership. A senior faculty of the institute conducted the lessons, which were a part of a leadership development programme called 'Manthan'. The UP Government, in a statement, said: "It is the first time that a state government, in order to enhance its political leadership, has decided to seek training from one of the country's best management institutes".
