Priyanka on Chinmayanand's rape case: 'This is BJP's justice?'

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lambasted Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath's government over the arrest of the 22-year-old law student, who accused the former Union Minister Chinmayanand of rape, and questions if this is BJP's justice. She further called the BJP government 'anti-woman' on accounts of multiple rape cases.
Congress' East Uttar Pradesh General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra questioned the BJP government over the Unnao and Shahjahanpur rape case, wherein both former BJP leaders were accused of rape.
"Unnao rape case: Victim's father is killed. Victim's uncle is arrested. Following massive public pressure and after 13 months, accused MLA arrested. Attempt to kill the victim's family. Shahjahanpur rape case: Victim arrested. Victim's family being pressured," Priyanka Gandhi tweeted.
Police deliberately delayed action against the accused BJP leader and it was after public pressure that they arrested him, said the Congress' Priyanka Gandhi Vadra
"Even the charge of rape has not been put on the accused BJP leader. This is BJP's justice?" she said.
Priyanka Gandhi also posted a media report claiming that police in Uttar Pradesh's Banda asked a rape victim to get two witnesses so that her case can be registered. "This is the height of insensitivity. This makes it clear that the BJP government is anti-women. What kind of demand is this to ask a rape victim to get two witnesses of the rape? she said.
Chinmayanand rape case
The law student from Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur who accused former Union Minister and BJP leader Chinmayanand of raping her was sent to 14-days judicial custody on Wednesday. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) alleged that the girl was blackmailing Chinmayanand to extort Rs. 5 crores from him.
Meanwhile, Chinmayanand is sent to judicial custody after his arrest, under IPC sections 354 D (stalking), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Two days after his arrest, the former BJP leader has been admitted in the hospital after complaining of chest pain. peaking to media, Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent Amit Agarwal said angiography was done and no significant blockage was found, adding that angioplasty was not required. The doctor further said that Chinmayanand's discharge is planned in the due course of time.
The BJP distanced itself from the controversy on Wednesday and stated that the rape accused Minister is no more a part of the party. "Chinmayanand isn’t a BJP member anymore,” said UP BJP unit spokesperson in Lucknow.
Kuldeep Sengar rape case
A Delhi court on August 14 framed charges against expelled BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar and nine others in connection with the death of the father of a woman who accused him of rape in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. Senger and others have been charged with murder, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, criminal conspiracy, false evidence under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
