Protest against RSS school for not teaching Punjabi in Bathinda, activist Lakha Sidhana detained

High drama was witnessed outside a school run by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Bathinda, where people staged a protest on Tuesday (November 7). The gangster turned social activist Lakha Sidhana was leading the protest with allegations against the school for not teaching the Punjabi language in school. The police have detained Sidhana to maintain the law and order situation.Lakha Sidhana detainedThere was heavy police deployment at the spot to maintain the law and order situation in the school. Police have detained Lakha Sidhana and taken him to the police station to maintain peace in the area. DSP Mohit Aggarwal said, “After assessing the situation police were deployed in sufficient numbers. Our priority is to make the school students secure and to maintain law and order situation. Whatever the matter is, basically between parents and school administration, they will handle the situation. We have informed our senior officers and further, the issue was brought to the notice of the education department too.”The stir was staged outside the Sarvhitkari Vidhya Mandir school run by RSS in Punjab's Bathinda. Some of the parents of the students also participated in the protest blaming school authorities for imposing fines on the students for speaking Punjabi in school. A mother of a school student said, “My son is studying in the school and teachers are asking him to wear a Kada. The teachers are neither teaching the Punjabi language to the students, that’s the reason we are raising the voice.”Another parent, Manpreet Kaur said, “My daughter is studying in the school and now the school administration is asking for the night classes. My concern is why the school is asking for night classes? Are they not able to complete their studies in the daytime? Who would be responsible for their security during night hours”.
