Puducherry gets new CBI and ACB offices

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) has set up new offices in Puducherry. The order was passed by the investigation agencies on November 14. The new offices will give the public a platform to lodge anti-corruption complaints said an order passed by the agencies.

"There is an imperative need to create a new unit office at Puducherry, which will have a greater impact on anti-corruption work. This will facilitate the public to easily lodge their corruption-related complaints instead of approaching the CBI branch located at Chennai,” said the order.

"Setting up of a unit will reduce the travelling time for officers and serving of summons and execution of warrants etc can be expedited," said the order.

"Puducherry people thank Govt of India for opening a unit of CBI in Puducherry. It was a long-standing need and demand. It has been met now. It shall go a long way in instilling hope in the hearts & minds of the people that they can seek urgent intervention," said Puducherry's Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi on Twitter and expressed her gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
