A luxury Porsche car allegedly driven by 17-year-old son of a prominent builder crushed two IT professionals to death in Pune.
New Delhi: Days after Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor from Pune's Sassoon General Hospital were suspended on the charges of tampering the blood samples of teen in the Pune Porsche crash, new reports suggest that teen's blood sample were swapped with that of his mother. The case is being investigated by a 3-member committee formed by the Maharashtra government.
A luxury Porsche car allegedly driven by 17-year-old son of a prominent builder crushed two IT professionals to death in Pune. The mother of teen, Shivani Agarwal, has reportedly given her blood sample which was swapped with that of teen during the investigation process.
Republic earlier reported that the juvenile's blood samples were thrown into a dustbin and replaced with the blood samples of another person on the instructions of Dr Taware. The builder's son involved in the Kalyani Nagar accident underwent a medical examination at Sassoon Hospital. Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Haalnor had allegedly discarded the minor's blood samples in the dustbin. Instead, different blood samples were substituted and sent for testing.
Doctors Charged For Tampering Blood Sample
Both the doctors have been charged under IPC sections 120B, 467, 201, 212, and 213 for conspiracy, document forgery, and destruction of evidence. On May 27, the Pune Crime Branch recovered Rs 3 lakh, which was allegedly used to bribe doctors to alter the blood sample of the minor accused. The Maharashtra Medical Council has also issued notice to both the doctors.
Why Blood Sample Tests Matter in the Case
In this case, blood samples of the teen who was allegedly driving the Porsche s a crucial evidence. CCTV footage has shown that minor had consumed alcohol before the incident at a bar with his friends. However, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report found no alcohol in the minor’s initial blood sample, raising suspicion of possible sample manipulation.
Another blood sample of the Super Rich Brat was sent to a Aundh government hospital where it matched with his father's DNA but the DNA of the blood sample tested at the Sasoon Hospital didn't match. The prosecution has even claimed that the blood samples were manipulated on the directions of Vishal Agarwal.
Tale of Discrepancies and Lapses in Blood Samples
During an interaction with Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, on Wednesday, the Pune CP also avoided the question on whether he was misled on the blood samples. “The blood sample thing is just a development of day before yesterday”, Kumar said while trying to brush across the question posed to him. The top cop investigating the case then quickly tried to evade further questions with a pre-constructed response, suggesting the Police “are already deep into the case”, and “will not leave any stone unturned to arrive at a conclusion”.
Earlier, Kumar had admitted during a LIVE TV segment at Republic that two blood samples were taken to avoid tampering in the matter. He said that there was a 3-4 hour gap between the two samples. However, a day later at the press conference, Kumar said that there was a gap of 8 to 9 hours between the two blood samples taken by the forensic team of the Sassoon Hospital.
As Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief confronted Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar for the second time on Wednesday, the top cop admitted that NCP leader and Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar had called him. On the second day of incident, Pawar had called Kumar "seeking an update". "Ajit Pawar didn't speak to me on Day 1. On Day 2, however, all three of them – the Chief Minister and both the Deputy CMs – spoke with me, seeking an update on the matter", Kumar exclusively told Arnab.
