Punjab anti-drug drive: Two apprehended in Amritsar with 12 kg heroin

According to officials, the police was able to seize 12 kg heroin from a village near the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar, Punjab, on Wednesday and also arrested two. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Vikramjit Singh Duggal, the accused, who have been identified as Gurpreet Singh and Gurpal Singh, belong to Rorawala village in Amritsar. An FIR by the Gharinda police has been filed against the accused. While further investigations are on to establish any possible national and international links in the case, it is also being suspected that more arrests are likely to happen in connection with the same. Apart from Amritsar, cases have also come in from Ludhiana and Sultanpur Lodhi. The police have held two smugglers on the basis of information by the police of Anti Narcotics cell near village Ramgarh on Chandigarh Road in Ludhiana. However, a woman who was also seen with them is absconding.
