Punjab: Special session on Nov 6 to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev

In a bid to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev on the 550th Prakash Purab, the council of Ministers in Punjab's Batala on Tuesday decided to summon a special session of the 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha on November 6. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. The 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev will take place on November 12.

The cabinet approved recommending to the Governor summoning of the ninth session of the House under Article 174(1) of the constitution of India. Article 174(1) states that the  Governor shall from time to time summon the House or each House of the Legislature of the State to meet at such time and place as he thinks fit, but six months shall not intervene between its last sitting in one session and the date appointed for its first sitting in the next session. The CM and his cabinet colleagues were in Batala to review the progress of various projects for the mega-events being organised to commemorate the 550th-anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.

PM Modi, President Kovind to attend 550th Prakash Purab

The Chief Minister of Punjab on October 3 took to Twitter and announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind accepted an invitation to attend the upcoming 550th Prakash Purab celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev. "President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi accept invite of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to attend 550th Prakash Purab celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev," the Punjab CMO tweeted.
