INDI Rift Out in Open Again: Rahul Accuses Kejriwal of Making False Promises; AAP Fires Back
Rahul Gandhi Accuses Its INDI Alliance Partner Kejriwal of ‘Failing’ to Reduce Inflation
Delhi Elections 2025: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi , launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, accusing them of failing to tackle the rising inflation that is hitting the poor hardest.
Speaking at the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” rally in Delhi’s Seelampur area, Gandhi said, “Inflation is at its peak. The poor are becoming poorer while the rich are becoming richer. Ambani and Adani are doing marketing for PM Modi. Have you ever heard PM Modi or Kejriwal speak about Adani?”
He continued, “We don't want a country of billionaires. People like Ambani and Adani have bought the whole nation and control all businesses. It’s time to challenge this trend."
Gandhi also accused the Modi government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of attacking the Indian Constitution. " BJP and RSS are destroying the Constitution. They are spreading hatred. We traveled 4,000 kilometers from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to save the Constitution,” he said, referencing the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
INDI Rift Out in Open Again
Turning his criticism toward Arvind Kejriwal, Gandhi, who is part of the opposition INDI alliance with AAP, accused the Delhi CM of failing to deliver on promises.
“Kejriwal spread a clean Delhi propaganda, promised to turn it into Paris, and eradicate corruption. But pollution and inflation are on the rise under his rule," he said.
"People should ask Kejriwal if he supports reservation for backward communities and a caste census. Make Congress victorious, and we will ensure development, as we have done in the past. Neither Kejriwal nor the BJP can do what we can,” Gandhi added.
Delhi Elections 2025
The remarks come ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, which are scheduled for February 5. The Congress party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years before being ousted by Kejriwal’s AAP, is aiming for a resurgence.
AAP, which has won overwhelming majorities in the past two elections (67 and 62 seats in 2015 and 2020, respectively), will face a tough battle against BJP, the principal opposition in the capital.
The results of the Delhi assembly election will be announced on February 8.
