Rain blocks several roads in Uttarakhand

Heavy overnight rains blocked a number of roads in Uttarakhand, including the ones going to the Himalayan temples.

The road to Kedarnath was blocked by rubble of landslides at Bhiri and Banswada in Rudraprayag district, while the road to Yamunotri was blocked at Dabarkot in Uttarkashi district.

The road to Badrinath (NH-58) was blocked at Kshetrapal, Garud Ganga and Fursadi jail in Chamoli district, the state Disaster Management office here said on Wednesday.

NH-107 was also blocked at Rampur, Sitapur and Munkatiya, it said.

Ghat-Pithoragarh and Tawaghat-Sobla roads in Pithoragarh district were also blocked.

Tanakpur-Champawat road was blocked near Sinyari in Champawat district, it said.

The MeT department has forecast increased rain activity across the state on Wednesday and Thursday.
