Dussehra marks the time when good overcame evil and when Ram overcame and slew Ravan. To mark and celebrate this event, people all around India burn an effigy of Ravan to symbolize the fall of evil. This celebration is the Ravan Dahan, which is one of the most important parts of Dussehra. Gurgaon has several great Ravan Dahan events to choose from. Here are three of the best and biggest Ravan Dahans in the city of Gurgaon. 

Gaushala Dusshera Mela

One of the oldest and largest Ravan Dahan events, the burning of Ravan at Gaushala Dusshera Mela is one of the most anticipated moments in Gurgaon during the festival of Dussehra. People from all around Gurgaon and some from outside Gurgaon come to see the burning of this Ravan effigy. The event also has a lot of fireworks that add to the spectacle of the event. The burning takes place after 5 PM every year. The Gaushala Grounds is near the Old Gurgaon Bus Stand.

Jacobpura

Jocobpura not only has an amazing Ravan Dahan but it is also surrounded by a large number of Dussehra Melas. At the Melas, you can see several troupes enacting the iconic battle between Ram and Ravan. Several Navratri events and song and dance events also go on in Jocobpura. At the Sri Durga Ram Lila Ground, you will see one of the best Ravan Dahan's in all of Old Gurgaon. If you want to have an all-rounded and fun time during the Ravan Dahan, then you should visit Jacobpura.

New Colony Gurgaon

A highly popular Ravan Dahan that takes place every year during Dussehra. The event is also popular for its Ramlila enactments. Along with a giant Ravan effigy, there is also a tall Hanumaan statue that is elevated hundreds of feet above the ground. If you are in New Colony or are visiting the area, then you need to visit this Ravan Dahan.

Here were some of the best Ravan Dahan's that are celebrated in the city of Gurgaon. You should try and visit one of these events during Dussehra. It is impossible to enjoy all three events on the same day. So decide which one is closest to you and go there accordingly. All three of these events are worth your time.
