On the occasion of the 89th anniversary of the Dandi March, the Instagram account of the Congress shared a rare handwritten note by Mahatma Gandhi.

It was on March 12, 1930 when the Gandhi had begun the historic Salt March or the Dandi March from the coastal village of Dandi in Gujarat as a protest against the heavy taxation levied by British on salt. The march started off the Civil Disobedience Movement in India and boosted the momentum of India's freedom struggle.

On Tuesday, Congress posted the image of a rare handwritten note by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi which he wrote when he camped at Dandi during the march.

Gandhiji in the note, which was meant for journalists as per Congress' post, said, "I want world sympathy in this battle of Right against Might - Dandi, M.K. Gandhi."

The Congress also shared two images of Mahatma Gandhi and captioned them with excerpts from his writings.

The first image was titled, "A Satyagrahi, whether free or incarcerated, is ever victorious. He is vanquished only, when he forsakes truth and nonviolence and turns a deaf ear to the inner voice - Mahatma Gandhi,"

The second image was shared with the caption: ""Nonviolence is a weapon of the strong. ― Mahatma Gandhi."
