Virk said police personnel are keeping a close vigil at sensitive locations to maintain law and order before and during Republic Day celebrations. At the same time, security forces are also keeping a close eye on unclaimed goods, vehicles as well as suspicious people. Apart from conducting checks at all vital points, patrolling and checking has also been intensified to maintain law and order, he said.

Special drive for checking trains and public transport is also being carried out in the state, the ADGP added. The police official said close vigil is being kept at strategic locations like busy markets, bus stands, railway stations, hotels and guest houses.

In addition to police patrolling, checking of vehicles, especially during the night, has also been beefed up to make the general public feel safe, he said. He also urged the people to report all suspicious persons or objects, if any, to the police to ensure safe and secure Republic Day celebrations.
