Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP Chief JP Nadda, in a late-night meeting with BJP Jammu and Kashmir Unit, have asked the State Unit to identify like-minded parties in Jammu and Kashmir, for pre pre-poll alliance for the upcoming Assembly Elections later this year. The state unit has also been asked to devise separate strategies for different demographic regions depending upon the political equation.

The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP Chief JP Nadda along with BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B L Santosh, Union Minister and Election Incharge for J&K, G Kishan Reddy, National General Secretary Incharge J&K, Tarun Chug and Co-Incharge Ashish Sood. From J&K Unit, State President Ravinder Raina, JK Organisation Secretary Ashok Kaul, Dr. Jitendra Singh (MP Lok Sabha), Jugal Kishore Sharma (MP Lok Sabha), Sunil Sharma (General Secretary), Adv. Vibodh Gupta (General Secretary) and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal (General Secretary) took part in the meeting.

Sources have informed Republic that Shah has told J&K leaders that Union Ministers will be camping in the region for more than two consecutive days to strengthen the party cadre. "Amit Shah emphasized the need for the J&K unit to develop separate strategies for Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch, and Rajouri. Additionally, a restructuring of the party organization in J&K is planned to take place post-Assembly polls," said sources.

The meeting by Shah and Nadda has also ruled out the possible leadership change in Jammu and Kashmir Unit which is scheduled to see a new President anytime soon as BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina has completed two tenures and is currently in seventh year of his Presidentship. "Jammu and Kashmir will not have party polls along with Centre as region is going to polls. In the rest of the country, the membership drive will begin around mid-July while for J&K, it will be done post Assembly elections in the Union Territory," he added.

BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina said that JP Nadda is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on July 6 for a meeting. "During this visit, the BJP will hold a convention with over 2,000 party functionaries, where Nadda will interact with them. BJP is ready for the Assembly polls and will fight with the same vigor as in the Parliamentary elections to ensure victory. All party workers are working tirelessly around the clock," he added.
