Mysuru: Karnataka Police lodged an FIR against BJP MP Pratap Simha for allegedly making ‘derogatory’ remark against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Mysuru district on Wednesday.

The BJP MP had referred to CM Siddaramaiah as ‘Somari Sidda’ (lazy Sidda) while addressing the media in Hunsur town. Acting on the complaint by Congress workers, the Devaraja Police in Mysuru city lodged an FIR under the provisions of IPC Section 504 and 153.

Simha, accusing Congress of targeting him, called the CM as 'Somari Sidda' which triggered the Congress party workers to file a complaint against the BJP MP.

“There are 28 MPs in Karnataka, they won't target any MP but why do they always target me? Should I be like 'Somari Sidda' (Lazy Siddaramaiah) and do caste politics? I'm for development politics,” Simha said.

Simha recetly faced a nationwide heat as the protesters who had jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber on December 13 and set off smoke canisters, had entered Parliament premises on gate passes issued on the permission of Simha's office.

Adressing the Parliament breach issue, the BJP MP said people will ultimately decide whether he was a patriot or a traitor, during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
