The three-member mediation panel

Apart from Sri Sri, senior advocate Sriram Panchu and former Justice of Supreme Court FM Kalifulla, who also headed the panel, were given the task to mediate in the case. Earlier on Wednesday, the five-judge Constitutional bench reserved its verdict on the politically sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi - Babri Masjid land dispute case of Ayodhya.

Revelation by the advocate

After the hearing ended, in a dramatic turnaround, advocate Shahid Rizvi, representing the Sunni Waqf Board, confirmed that the parties involved have reached a settlement.

“For almost 10 years we are into it and we have tried our best to get a verdict in the interest of the nation and the community's interest. From 2017 onwards I have been individually projecting the idea of having a dialogue among the parties so that a solution outside the Court can be found,” said Rizvi in a conversation with Republic Media Network's Nalini Sharma. “This is the case which is to be settled outside the courtroom among the parties where no party is a loser or winner, so the integrity and unity of the country is maintained and continued,” he added.

The bench is expected to deliver its judgement before November 17, the date when the Chief Justice of India demits office.
