Sri Sri Ravi Shankar welcomes SC verdict on Ayodhya land dispute

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that he welcomes the SC verdict wholeheartedly and that the decision has brought joy and relief to people of both communities

Soon after the Supreme Court of India pronounced its landmark verdict in the much-awaited Ayodhya land dispute, Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who was also a member of the mediation panel in the case, said that he welcomes the SC verdict wholeheartedly. Ravi Shankar also said that the decision has brought joy and relief to people of both communities from a long-standing dispute. The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi pronounced on Saturday that the whole disputed land will be given to Hindus for construction of the temple and a separate 5-acre prominent and suitable land will be given to Muslims for construction of a mosque.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar welcomes historic SC judgement

The Spiritual Guru took to microblogging website Twitter to reflect upon the monumental SC judgement on Saturday. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar tweeted:

Congress National Spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi also tweeted about the historic judgement and quoted a line from hymn popularized by Mahatama Gandhi. Singhvi said, "historical unanimous decision of a decades-old dispute." Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted about the judgement and said, "I have faith that the Apex court's historic verdict will by itself amount to a foundation stone. This verdict will further India's unity and great culture." 

The Supreme Court Judgement

Delivering the landmark judgment in the Ayodhya dispute case, the Supreme Court on Saturday, delivered a unanimous judgment in the title suit of the disputed area awarding it to the Hindu parties for the construction of a temple. It also directed the Centre to come up with a scheme within three months to set up a trust which will hand over the outer courtyard and inner courtyard of the site for construction of a temple. Apart from this, the SC stated that an alternate land of 5 acres is to be allotted to Muslims for construction of a mosque either by the central govt or the State govt in a suitable place in Ayodhya.
