Sushma Swaraj passes away: RSS' Mohan Bhagwat pays tribute to former EAM, calls her an 'exemplary politician'
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday issued a statement expressing condolences towards the family of Sushma Swaraj following her demise on Tuesday evening.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday issued a statement expressing condolences towards the family of Sushma Swaraj following her demise on Tuesday evening. Swaraj's father Hardev Sharma was a prominent RSS member.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and General Secretary Suresh Joshi paid tribute to her in a statement. The statement said that the news of the former EAM's death was unimaginable and deeply painful. It said that for nearly 45 years she led an ideal and exemplary political life. The organisation said that she will be forever remembered as an 'ideal activist, able leader, influential minister'.
The statement said that she was happy about the historic moment (bills passed in Upper and Lower houses to integrate Kashmir) and it is saddening that she passed in such a time.

PM Modi expresses condolences
PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter and expressed his sadness over her demise. In a series of tweets, he spoke of her highly marking the event of her death as 'an end of a glorious chapter in politics'. Calling her a prolific orator and outstanding Parliamentarian, he said the nation will grieve her death as she was an inspiration to all. He said that she was 'excellent administrator', and 'set high standards in every Ministry she handled'.
