It was a humiliation for Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council in New York on Friday as India’s representative to the United Nations Syed Akbaruddin gave a fitting response to Pak over Article 370, Kashmir issue and terrorism.
There were several memes that surfaced on Twitter too that not just hailed the officer for his work, but also those that mocked Pakistan.
Be it Nawazuddin’s meme from ‘Sacred Games’ or terming Akbaruddin's behaviour as ‘Thug Life’, the netizens once again showed their creative side on the political event.
Here are the best memes:
Syed Akbaruddin’s address attained added interest after China’s statement over Kashmir, trying to pass it as the viewpoint of the international community, and the ‘closed door’ meeting at the UNSC.
His “Stop terror to start talks” message to Pakistan during the speech became a talking point. Syed Akbaruddin asserted that Article 370 was an internal matter of India, while also disagreeing with the viewpoint held by China.
"At the UN Security Council's closed consultations we noted that the two states who made national statements tried to pass it off as the will of the international community. Our national stance was and remains that matters related to article 370 in the Indian Constitution is entirely an internal matter. These have no external ramifications," he said.
He added, "The recent decisions taken by the Government of India are intended that good governance is promoted, social development is enhanced for our people in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This morning, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir announced the whole set of measures that the government is undertaking to move towards normalcy," he added.
"Since the changes internal to India have not made any difference to our external orientation, India remains committed that the situation there remains calm and peaceful. We are committed to all the agreements we have signed on this issue," he said.
"We note that there were some who tried to take an alarmist position on the issue, which is far from the ground reality. There is one state which is using the terminology of 'Jihad' and promoting violence, especially by their leaders. Violence is no solution to the problem we face. We are committed that all issues with India and Pakistan and India and any other country will be solved bilaterally, peacefully and in a manner that behooves normal relations between countries. We stand ready to resolve all issues in an atmosphere free of terror and violence," he added.
