Congress on Friday demanded a judicial probe into the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) matter. Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, party spokesperson Dasoju Sravan stated that a sitting High Court judge should order a probe on the TSRTC’s income, assets and liabilities and other aspects of its employees. Furthermore, he condemned Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for his statement on the ongoing strike by the employees of TSRTC. He called upon the government to issue a white paper on TSRTC.

The Congress spokesperson said, "The state government should release a white paper on the assets and liabilities of the RTC. While the Chief Minister claimed that the state government has spent Rs 4,250 crore on RTC, the unions argue that the amount was only Rs.702 crore. This contradiction could be cleared only if the matter is probed by a sitting judge of the High Court".

'The Chief Minister has hatched a conspiracy'

Maintaining that all employees and workers belonging to every sector had the right to form their union, he dismissed the Telangana CM’s argument that the unions were going on a strike before every election. Moreover, Sravan claimed that this was a “conspiracy” to privatise the organization. He added that Rao’s tone was beneath the stature of a CM.

"The Chief Minister has hatched a conspiracy to privatise RTC to get control over its invaluable assets of TSRTC. KCR's language, tone, and gestures while speaking about union leaders do not suit the stature of a Chief Minister,” he remarked.

Government criticised for not paying salaries

The Congress spokesperson also criticised the Telangana government for disobeying the order of the Telangana High Court by not paying the salaries for the month of September to the employees of TSRTC. He accused the Telangana CM of committing contempt of the court. Furthermore, he contended that the recent victory of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the Huzurnagar bypoll was not an endorsement of the government’s policies.
