Threat to Mohan Bhagwat from Islamic radicals, Bihar Police on alert after intelligence inputs
In compliance with directives from the Patna Headquarters' DIG of Special Branch, an anti-sabotage probe has been launched in Bhagalpur.
Patna: The Bhagalpur DM and SSP have been notified by the Police Headquarters' Intelligence and protection Division that the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who is under Z Plus protection, is under threat from the Pak-backed ISI, Islamic fundamentalists, and other terrorist groups.
In compliance with directives from the DIG of Special Branch, Patna Headquarters, an anti-sabotage probe has been launched in Bhagalpur. Comprehensive car inspections have begun on all main thoroughfares and district entrances. In addition to hotels and dharamshalas (spiritual dwelling), police have increased their presence in lodges, adjacent areas, and locations connected to the Sangh Chief's circumambulation programme, which is scheduled to take place in Bhagalpur on the 21st and 22nd.
Aside from the Special Branch squad, officials from the Crime Branch and the Intelligence Bureau have also become involved and have started to monitor the situation. All information regarding the incident is being gathered and brought to the attention of the appropriate authority.
Special security arrangements have been made for Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat's arrival in Bhagalpur on the evening of December 21st, meeting with Sangh workers and participating in the programme to be held at Maharishi Mehi Ashram Kuppa Ghat on December 22nd.
After a security briefing, Range DIG Vivekananda, SSP Anand Kumar, City SP Amit Ranjan, City DSP Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, Headquarters DSP, and Law and Order DSP established local security measures. The roads in Kotwali, Jogsar, and Barari police station areas are being reinforced in anticipation of the Sangh chief's visit, itinerary, and stay in these locations.
