Unnao rape case: CBI carries out searches at residence of Kuldeep Sengar and other accused in UP
The CBI on Sunday carried out searches at the residence of expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and other accused in connection with the accident of the Unnao rape survivor.

The CBI on Sunday carried out searches at the residence of expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and other accused in connection with the accident of the Unnao rape survivor. The CBI launched the search operation in at least 17 premises in four districts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Banda, Unnao, Fatehpur, officials said.
Unnao accident case
On July 29, 2019, the Unnao rape survivor, her family, and lawyer were travelling when they were hit by an overspeeding truck in Rae Bareli. In the accident, the rape survivors killing her aunts and leaving her and the advocate critically injured. The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday filed a murder case against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and nine others after the rape survivor's family filed a complaint, alleging "conspiracy" behind the accident. As per latest in the case, the 19-year-old rape survivor is on ventilator support and her condition is critical. Her advocate has been taken off the ventilator, but he is still not out of danger.
CBI books Kuldeep Sengar and others
The CBI booked expelled-BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, nine others and 15-20 unidentified persons in connection with the accident. Following which, the agency also questioned Sengar on Saturday in connection with the case. A team of CBI reached Sitapur Jail where the BJP MLA has been lodged and grilled him for several hours.
Supreme Court order in matter
Day after transferring the Unnao rape case from Lucknow to Delhi, the Supreme Court on Friday halted the transfer of the five cases in the matter to Delhi for 15 days. This development took place after CBI had complained to the SC that the transfer of the case to Delhi is affecting the remand of accused, custodial interrogation of Kuldeep Sengar among other issues. Now the case will remain in Lucknow for the next 7 to 14 days, till the probe is over. Furthermore, the CBI had moved an application in a Lucknow court on Friday seeking custodial interrogation of four other suspects in the case apart from Kuldeep Singh Sengar, i.e. Atul Singh, Shailender Singh, Virender Singh, Vineet Mishra.
