UP Floods: Over 900 prisoners shifted due to heavy rainfall
Of the 900 prisoners, 500 prisoners are being shifted to Azamgarh Jail and remaining to Ambedkarnagar, Additional District Magistrate, Ballia, Ram Asrey said

Due to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, the authorities are forced to transfer nearly 900 prisoners from the district jail in Ballia after floodwaters have entered the barracks of the district jail, as per officials. The jail is located in the low lying area near the River Ganga.
Of the 900 prisoners, 500 are being shifted to Azamgarh Jail and remaining to Ambedkarnagar, Additional District Magistrate, Ballia, Ram Asrey said. The ADM also mentioned that the low lying areas have been flooded in the region and as the jail is situated near the River Ganga which it is not possible to pump out water.
Floods in other regions of UP
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dushyant Kumar Maurya said that in the Baria Tehsil area rains have severely hit life where an ashram in Keharpur village has been submerged while a population of one lakh in about 15 villages is totally affected, as per reports.
According to reports, the North-Eastern Railway said traffic on the Ballia-Chappra route has been hit after tracks were damaged and repair work was on in full swing. The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mahesh Gupta, said "Rail tracks were damaged early on Sunday morning and the repair work is going on in full swing. About 20 trains on the Ballia-Chappra route have been canceled while the route of 20 others has been changed."
IMD issues warning
Earlier on September 27, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning over the next 48 hours in several parts of Uttar Pradesh. According to the warning, "Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some areas in the district of Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Sombhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Balia, Mau, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Ambedkar Nagar and adjoining districts during the next 48 hours.
CM Yogi Adityanath takes measures
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the divisional commissioners and the district magistrates to take all measures and extend immediate relief to affected people, stated reports. He has also asked the officials to visit the flood-hit areas and examine the situation. Further, CM Adityanath has asked the officials to extend the monetary help of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed, as well as arrange treatment for the injured.
