Finding a clean meal on Indian trains seems to be as difficult as getting a Tatkal ticket. A recent incident has sparked outrage and amusement online, highlighting concerns about food quality.

A passenger on an unspecified train shared a video on the "Indian Railways" subreddit, documenting their unfortunate discovery.  They excitedly opened their IRCTC-ordered vegetable thali, expecting a simple meal, but found a "lively cockroach nestled on their gulab jamun," according to the passenger.

Check out the post:

The post was shared with a caption that reads, “For the first time I ordered dinner from IRCTC and this is what I got :) A living cockroach.”

The video quickly went viral, with users offering both criticism and humour. One user jokingly called it a "crunchy, protein-rich diet," while another sarcastically praised the railways' "expensive non-veg thali" with a “live garnish.”

This incident isn't unique. Parvez Hashmi, travelling on the Kashi Express (train number 15018), shared a similar experience on social media. He posted a "troubling image" of an unidentified object in his meal, tagging Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and raising concerns about food quality.

These incidents highlight the need for stricter regulations and better hygiene practices in food preparation for Indian trains.
