Sim Card New Rule: The new SIM card regulations are the subject of periodic changes. Users of mobile devices are being handed critical information in this episode. In order to modify the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) rule, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) made this decision. To prevent SIM swap fraud, TRAI is enforcing this regulation. Beginning on July 1, these regulations will be in force. TRAI has published the draft of the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2023. The Department of Telecommunications advised its issuance.
The new regulations were actually published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on March 15, 2024. On July 1, 2024, these new regulations will take effect nationwide. According to TRAI, new regulations will aid in reducing the number of fraud cases.
You may now have to wait a bit longer to receive a replacement SIM card if your old one is lost, stolen, or destroyed. Before, you would acquire a new SIM card right away from the store if your original SIM card was lost, stolen, or destroyed. However, the locking duration has been extended in this instance. Users will now need to wait seven days. Those who recently changed their SIM card will not be able to migrate their phone number, according the new regulation. After seven days, customers will be able to do this. In other words, following the MNP rule change, you won't receive a new SIM card until the following seven days.
Many times, it was discovered that the number was activated on another SIM card after the stolen SIM card was taken. An additional incident is conducted following this one. The purpose of this resolution is to stop these kinds of internet scams from happening. TRAI released a notification about this in March. Users of services like Reliance JIO, Vodafone Idea, and Airtel now need to be vigilant.
