New Delhi:  A recent meeting between MNS leader Raj Thackeray and his cousin, Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray, at a wedding in Mumbai has sparked rumours that the two might be looking to mend their political differences ahead of the upcoming civic elections in Maharashtra, as reported by PTI.

The two Thackerays were seen together on Sunday at the wedding of a government official in Andheri. Raj Thackeray of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) met with Uddhav, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and his wife Rashmi Thackeray at the event, amidst ongoing speculations about tensions within both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

Political analysts suggest that there could be a possibility that the MNS and Sena (UBT) can reconcile given the upcoming the civic body elections, including the cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, due in the state. however, the schedule for the civic polls has not yet been announced.

This comes after Raj, once seen as the political heir of his uncle and the late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, quit the Sena (then undivided) in 2005 and floated his party the next year.

In last year's elections to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly, the Shiv Sena (UBT), which is part of the opposition MVA, won 20 seats, while the MNS drew a blank.
