Who is Kulwinder Kaur—CISF Constable Suspended For Slapping Kangana
The CISF constable who allegedly slapped BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has been suspended.
New Delhi: Kulwinder Kaur, CISF constable who allegedly slapped BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport on Thursday has been suspended. “CISF has suspended the woman constable and given a complaint against her at the local police station for FIR, in connection with slapping BJP leader and actor Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport”, said a senior CISF officer. The alleged slapping incident is said to have stemmed from Kangana's controversial remarks regarding Punjabi women involved in the farmers' protest. In a purported video capturing the aftermath, the constable can be heard mentioning her own mother's participation in the protests. A panel has been constituted by the CISF to investigate the reported incident.
Who Is Kulwinder Kaur?
- The constable involved in the incident hails from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab and has served at Chandigarh Airport for the past two years.
- She is married to another CISF personnel, and they have two children together.
- Her brother, Sher Singh, holds a prominent position as the organization secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, indicating a familial connection to the farming community.
- The constable's personal background suggests a close association with Punjab and its agricultural concerns.
What Happened at Chandigarh Airport?
Upon reaching the Security Hold Area (SHA) for frisking, Kangana was attended to by CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur. After the frisking process, a verbal altercation ensued, culminating in Kulwinder Kaur slapping Kangana Ranaut. The constable later stated that her actions were provoked by derogatory remarks Kangana had previously made about Punjabi women during the farmers' agitation against the three farm laws.
Kangana has stated that she will file a complaint with the Home Ministry in Delhi. Despite the altercation, Kangana boarded her flight, which departed at 4:10 PM. Meanwhile, Kulwinder Kaur remains under the supervision of the CISF commandant as the situation continues to unfold.
Kangana Issues Statement
Taking to X, Kanagana issued a statement and said she was hit on the face and abused by a CISF woman constable during security check at the Chandigarh airport while on her way to Delhi. In a video statement titled "Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab" posted on the social media platform, she said she was safe and fine but was concerned about terrorism increasing in Punjab.
Kangana, who issued the statement after landing in Delhi, said the constable came towards her from the side. "She hit me on the face and started abusing me. I asked her why she did it and she said she supports the farmers' protests."
Kangana was elected to Lok Sabha from Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh where she defeated her nearest Congress rival by over 74,000 votes
